- Fifth Sun: A New History of the Aztecs by Camilla Townsend (Oxford University Press, 2019): This is necessary reading for those who wish to understand the people we call the Aztecs, conquest, and how to do history of conquered peoples. Thoroughly researched and clearly presented, I can't recommend this title enough. 5 stars.
- Lord of the Fly Fest by Goldy Moldavsky (Henry Holt and Co., 2022): A hilarious and campy rendition of Lord of the Flies set at a doomed music festival. A fun romp that will have you captivated. 5 stars.
- I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston (Wednesday Books, 2022): Forming a text chain/investigative body based on who recently kissed the perfect girl, Shara Wheeler, is simply an incredible premise. Fun, sweet, and ultimately uplifting, pick up this book for a good time. 5 stars.
- Galaxy: The Prettiest Star by Jadzia Axelrod (Author) and Jess Taylor (Illustrator) (Dc Comics, 2022): Gorgeous and vibrant art brings this story of an alien princess disguised as a human boy to poignant life. Raising issues of gender identity, romance, and what it means to be safe, this graphic novel is well worth a read. 5 stars.
