Circus of Shadows by Lidia Brankovic
Everyone has a shadow. It may change shape, but it is a constant companion that mimics what one does. This was the case for Lika until, one day, it wasn't. Her shadow starts misbehaving and for a while she ignores it, then she tries shaming it, and then she tries to make it disappear. None of these work, for her shadow grows in the dark until it whisks Lika away to a shadow world. At first, it's a bit scary and overwhelming, but soon Lika learns to play with her shadow and learn from it.
