The United States of Cryptids: A Tour of American Myths and Monsters by J. W. Ocker

J. W. Ocker has collected tales of cryptids from all of the United States. Not only does he explore each cryptid's history, sightings, and possible non-cryptid explanation, he discusses why they should be celebrated and their homes made into tourist destinations (for those that are not already). Ocker covers the well-known cryptids (like Bigfoot and Mothman) but also lesser known ones (like the Glocester Ghoul of Rhode Island or Batsquatch). Only an expert will know all of the creatures covered in The United States of Cryptids: A Tour of American Myths and Monsters and, even then, the experts will enjoy the artwork and quirky voice of Ocker.

The book will inspire readers to do their own cryptid research and tourism. If that's not high praise, tell me higher and I'll use it.
