Book series to TV show, 7: Saga

Every four weeks, I will be writing about a book series that I think could make a great TV show.

Few series are as epic as Saga. It follows Alan and Marko, an unlikely married couple from long-warring extraterrestrial races. They have done something forbidden: fallen in love and conceived a child (a daughter named Hazel). Forced to flee authorities from both sides of a galactic war, they struggle to carve a life out for themselves, for Hazel (who is narrator of the series), and for the family they find along the way.

Packed with action, politics, romance, and familial drama, Saga is a masterfully written series with impeccable illustration. All of these elements would make for a strong (and long) TV series. Because of the strong artistic vision, I would recommend this being an animated series so that illustrator Fiona Staples can be involved in the project.

Additionally, it's welcome combination of science fiction and fantasy is sure to attract a large following.
