A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley

Mariel Spark, despite her mother's best efforts (and best prophecies), feels like a failure of a witch. The venerable Spark line is known for powerful and flashy magic, but Mariel can't even summon flour without accidentally summoning a demon known as Ozroth the Ruthless, there to claim her very soul and, along with it, her magic.

Ozroth the Ruthless though, has feelings of failure of his own. Having been the only demon to obtain a soul (a mere six months ago), he has felt his reputation as a bargainer (a role vital for the survival of the demon realm) sink lower and lower. Now, presented with the opportunity to claim what he perceives as a very powerful soul indeed, he is eager to strike a bargain. Except, he learns that Mariel didn't mean to summon him and has no desire to sell her soul. He also learns that she's beautiful, passionate, and funny.

As Mariel and Oz dance around this potentially soul-extracting bargain (which awkwardly involves Mariel lying to her overbearing mother that Oz is her boyfriend even though they'd just met), they find themselves more and more drawn to each other as they explore each other's hearts, minds, histories, and, eventually, bodies. As chaos begins to brew around them, they face difficult truths and choices, but, with their strong wills, will they manage to find a path through, together?

Sultry, delightfully trope-filled, and creative, A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon is quite the fun romantic and fantastical romp.
