The Fall of the House of Usher: A Graphic Novel by Edgar Allan Poe (author) and Raul Garcia (author, artist)

The Fall of the House of Usher was adeptly adapted both from the original story and from a short film. Frederick travels to his old friend Roderick's family home which now stands in shambles. Roderick is afflicted with a dark illness and dreads losing his sister, Madeline, his only remaining relative who is likewise afflicted. When Madeline dies, the two entomb her in the basement, but Roderick begins to be driven mad by the idea that she was still alive when entombed. Frederick then witnesses the fall of his friend, his sanity, and ultimately his lustrous home.

The illustrations are lush, eerie, and cinematographic. The original short story rounds out this sumptuous volume.
