Judging books by their covers, 18

Just want to share some books whose covers I love! Once every 4 weeks, I'll post 4 books and super short synopses of books whose covers catch my eye.

  1. The Auction by Sadie Kincaid (MIRA, 2026): Beauty and the Beast meets organized crime in this tense slow-burn romance with scorching spice, thrilling suspense, and life-altering secrets.
  2. Mad Mabel: A Novel by Sally Hepworth (St. Martin's Press, 2026): There are two kinds of people no one ever expects to be murderers: little girls and old ladies.
  3. The Caretaker: A Novel by Marcus Kliewer (Atria, 2026): A supernatural horror about a young woman who accepts a caretaking job from Craigslist, only to discover the position has consequences far greater—and more dangerous—than she ever could have imagined.
  4. We Burned So Bright by TJ Klune (Tor Books, 2026): A heart-wrenching standalone novel that follows an older queer couple on an end-of-the-world road-trip.
