Here for the Wrong Reasons: A Novel by Annabel Paulsen and Lydia Wang
Krystin is on Hopelessly Devoted for the right reasons. She wants a husband. She knows that this will fix her loneliness, even if her best friend, Delia, thinks Krystin is a fool for going on reality TV. Krystin knows that this season's romantic, Josh Rosen, is the one for her, Delia be and her duties as rodeo queen in Montana be damned.
Lauren is definitely not on Hopelessly Devoted for the right reasons. Lauren knows she's a lesbian, but thinks that making it just far enough on the show will grow her following without hurting any hearts. But, that's all before she sees and, later, gets to know Krystin. Lauren is inexplicably drawn to the achingly pretty and genuine horse girl.
But, it will shock everyone when Krystin is the first to make a move on Lauren. However, as Hopelessly Devoted goes on and the stakes raise, can Krystin and Lauren find their way to being open with each other and the rest of the world?
Here for the Wrong Reasons: A Novel by Annabel Paulsen and Lydia Wang is, in a word, delightful. Krystin and Lauren's romance builds realistically, even in a surreal setting. Their love explores itself physically in a steamy and romantic way, and Krystin and Lauren find their ways to each other and their identities in a genuine way.
Here for the Wrong Reasons is great for an audience who is a fan of The Bachelor or other reality dating shows. But, that is not required in order to root for and enjoy Krystin and Lauren's love story (it merely adds to it). I highly recommend this sapphic romance.
