Holly Quick Backlist Reviews, Bookman!: Week 9

Just to get through some backlog of books I've read, I'll post 4 super short reviews of backlist titles every Wednesday.

1. The Adventure Zone: Volumes 1-4 by Clint McElroy (Author), Griffin McElroy (Author), Justin McElroy (Author), Travis McElroy (Author), and Carey Pietsch (Author, Illustrator) (First Second, 2018): A hilarious fantasy romp through a homebrewed family D&D game. 5 stars.
2. Squad by Maggie Tokuda-Hall (Author) and Lisa Sterle (Illustrator) (Greenwillow Books, 2021): Immersive and evocative art paired with unfortunately sub-par writing. 3 stars.
3. The Bones of Paradise: A Novel by Jonis Agee (William Morrow, 2016): An enticing historical premise fails to deliver depth. 3 stars.
4. Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (Del Rey, 2019): A well-paced and compelling story featuring Mayan folklore. 4 stars.
