Holly Quick Backlist Reviews, Bookman!: Week 8

Just to get through some backlog of books I've read, I'll post 4 super short reviews of backlist titles every Wednesday.

  1. The Taking of Jake Livingston by Ryan Douglass (G.P. Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers, 2022):  A gripping YA novel about a teen medium, a dangerous ghost, and realistically chilling modern problems. 5 stars.
  2. The Girl from the Sea: A Graphic Novel by Molly Knox Ostertag (Graphix, 2021): A charming, delightful, and insightful tale of escape, family, and first love. 5 stars.
  3. The Lost Apothecary: A Novel by Sarah Penner (Park Row, 2021): Parallel stories of two strong, but somewhat lost women intertwine after a mudlarking lark in modern-day London. 4 stars.
  4. Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe (Anchor, 2018): An absorbing true crime story expertly seated in a troubled oral history. 5 stars.
