Bromantasy by Máire Roche

Juniper O'Reilly loves his life. He loves his farm. He loves drinking mead. And he loves (but definitely just as a friend) his best bro and roommate, Mo Elmthorn. Sure there was that one time they kissed and everything felt perfect to Juniper, but that was winters ago and they haven't talked it about since. Especially as, not long after, Mo left their farm on a quest for the winter.

Not that Juniper could blame Mo. No one had ever really stayed for Juniper, so why would the incredibly gorgeous, kind, and capable Mo? Besides, Juniper was always messing things up.

And, boy, has he messed things up this time. Because of some drunken mistakes, Juniper and Mo have found themselves on this awful (not to mention dirty) quest to slay a dragon. Soon though, they realize the dragon--and those who sent Juniper and Mo to slay her--are not what they seem. Can Juniper find a way out for him and his found family (perhaps even by talking about thoughts, feelings, and plans?) before things (literally) burn to the ground?

Bromantasy by Máire Roche was such a fun read. Juniper and Mo are imperfect--but such genuinely good--souls with just the worst habit of projecting what they think is happening onto each other's emotions. You will root for them from the very beginning and wanting to just shake them at times for not seeing what is right in front of them.

While I generally prefer a bit of a spicier romance, there were some hints of spice that all can appreciate. Roche does a good job of setting the romantic pace that is appropriate for a cozy romantasy. However, she doesn't let the coziness bog down the story and introduces high stakes that need quick thinking (and solutions).

Overall, if you want a cozy romantasy with found family, adorably frustrating pining, and lovable doofs--Bromantasy is the way to go.
