Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: Romeo & Juliet & Godzilla by Tom Scioli (Author, Artist), Adam Tierney (Author), and Sean Peacock (Artist)

If the portion of this long title Romeo & Juliet & Godzilla didn't grab you, then I don't know what I could say to convince you to read this.

The first in the Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre series, the team of Tom Scioli, Adam Tierney, and Sean Peacock boldly ask: "What if Godzilla and his foes were attacking Verona during the events of Romeo and Juliet?"

I love that there are minds that work like that. Overall, I had a fun time reading this goofy romp. There was one particularly comedically well-timed appearance of Godzilla that made me snort a laugh while all by myself. In general, I thought the weaving in of Godzilla worked shockingly well.

My biggest suggestion (and it's still fairly minor) is I wish Romeo and Juliet (and all other characters) had been drawn their age. Romeo and Juliet are meant to be young teenagers and I think it would've added to the humor if they were depicted as such instead of like the full grown adults who usually portray them on stage.

All in all though, if the idea of "Why not?" when it comes to Shakespearean adaptations appeals to you, I recommend that you give Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre Presents: Romeo & Juliet & Godzilla by Tom Scioli, Adam Tierney, and Sean Peacock.
