Book series to TV show, 21: Mead Mishaps
Every four weeks, I will be writing about a book series that I think could make a great TV show.
I'll admit it, this one will be tricky.
The Mead Mishaps series by Kimberly Lemming has three novels and one novella (not pictured below) filled with raunchy yet romantic romps. The spice level is pretty high, but there are shows that have been able to accomplish this without losing either the joy or the stakes of the larger fictional world. Each book follows a couple as they navigate an increase in human and demon interaction after a barrier between the worlds--and the systemic lies that went with it--fall.
While the romances are certainly the primary focus of the various Mead Mishaps books, there is a larger world that helps add some ticking clocks and other stakes that help make the novels more dynamic and move the plots and relationships along at a good clip. However, Lemming is sure to sprinkle a good deal of humor throughout her works to light up any darker moments.
I would say that this should probably be an animated series (much like the Critical Role animated series) as some of the sexcapades would defy human abilities and using CGI to produce them with actors would likely end up creating a catastrophic uncanny valley of a sex scene (and who wants that?).
I think having Lemming involved would be essential so she can keep the tone right of the show. Done right though, a Mead Mishaps animated TV series could be just the ticket for those craving something racy, rapid, and risible.
