Book series to TV show, 16: The Broken Earth Trilogy
Every four weeks, I will be writing about a book series that I think could make a great TV show.
The Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin is an impactful fantasy trilogy. Told, at times, in second person, the series follows orogenes (people who can control seismic energy) as they navigate a world that persecutes them. The series explores themes of survival and oppression through intricate world-building. Jemisin is a fantasy (and science-fiction) powerhouse. She is one of the best epic fiction writers out there now.
Because of Jemisin's fan base, the epic span of her world-building, the compelling nature of her characters, the unique narrative perspectives, and the immense power behind Jemisin's words, I believe The Broken Earth Trilogy could be the new, hit fantasy show. It would require an impressive budget and casting powerful actors, but that can be done. I'd eagerly see this trilogy adapted to the screen.
