Book series to TV show, 3: The Song of the Lioness
Every four weeks, I will be writing about a book series that I think could make a great TV show.
Tamora Pierce is a master. Although I haven't read The Song of the Lioness series in literal decades, I have such fond memories of it--as do many people of my generation. When looking it up, the series came out in the 1980s, so likely even some people in the generation above me loved it and I know it's still sold in bookstores so generations after me have loved it.
The Song of the Lioness series is a fantasy YA series starring Alanna of Trebond who begins her journey pretending to be a boy to take her twin brother's place so she can learn to become a knight and her twin, Thom, can study magic. As Alanna grows and learns, more problems arise in keeping her identity a secret and relationships start and grow more complicated.
This series has a lot of popular elements: fantasy, YA, familiar tropes, romance, and female empowerment. I would love to see this series on the small screen being brought to life with author Tamora Pierce at the helm.
