Judging books by their covers, 19

Just want to share some books whose covers I love! Once every 4 weeks, I'll post 4 books and super short synopses of books whose covers catch my eye.

  1. The Girl with a Thousand Faces by Sunyi Dean (Tor Books, 2026): A Gothic tale set in a historical Hong Kong that meshes ancient myths and local legends into a haunting story of ghosts, grief, and women who will not forgive.
  2. The Tapestry of Fate by Shannon Chakraborty (Harper Voyager, 2026): The second adventure of pirate Amina al-Sirafi as her quest to track down magical artifacts brings her to the island lair of a sorceress whose woven enchantments are impossible to flee.
  3. A Parade of Horribles: A Novel by Matt Dinniman (Ace, 2026): The explosive eighth book in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. As chaos and mass panic spread outside the dungeon in the wake of Faction Wars, Carl and Donut find themselves on the tenth floor, where they’re forced to compete in a surprisingly normal set of tasks. Well, normal for the dungeon.
  4. The Midnight Train: A Novel by Matt Haig (Viking, 2026): No one can change the past, but the Midnight Train can take you there. The chance to re-live the moments that meant most. To see what kind of person you really were.
