Houses of the Unholy by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips

The term "Satanic Panic" is familiar to many. In Houses of the Unholy Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips explore this bit of history and its ramifications into the adult lives of a group of six children--known as the Satanic Six--who accused adults in their lives of satanic ritual abuse. This graphic novel focuses Natalie Burns who now rescues teens and others from cults and returns them to their families. After being caught in what looked like a dark kidnapping, Natalie makes contact with an FBI agent who tells her she's in danger. According to Agent West, someone is hunting down and killing the Satanic Six. So the two of them team up to solve this deadly mystery. However, things soon spin out of control.

Houses of the Unholy deftly walks the line between supernatural and conspiracy horror. The art perfectly complements the narrative. While some twists were expected, Houses of the Unholy remains an excellent read.
