A Fox in My Brain by Lou Lubie
Lou has had ups and downs for a long time, but each time she turned for help she seemed to get a different answer. Finally, she uncovers what has been haunting her and causing all of the chaos: cyclothymia (though it comes to her in the form of a sly fox). Learning to live with and tame the fox is a journey for Lou, filled with complications but also great learning experiences.
A Fox in My Brain, while at times comedic, handles its darkness adeptly and clearly. The illustrations manage to convey the highs, lows, complications, and salvations of Lou's journey while keeping things clear yet evocative.
