Book series to TV show, 11: Once Upon a Con
Every four weeks, I will be writing about a book series that I think could make a great TV show.
Once Upon a Con is a romance book trilogy centered on convention and fan culture. Each book follows a different fated pair of to-be daters who are often on opposite sides of fan and star. While all characters aare at least referenced in each book, the focus shifts considerably each book. I imagine this working much like the Bridgerton TV adaptation.
Author Ashley Poston has written a loving, but still sometimes necessary, critical eye, to convention and fan culture. Each romantic pair is easy to root for and follows beloved romance and fairy tale tropes. This combination of fairy tale, geek culture, and romance tropes is a potent one that will have eager fans looking for lovely escapism.
I'm a bit baffled actually, as to how this hasn't been picked up yet for a TV series. I would eagerly binge all seasons of this show.
