Book to movie, 17: My Sister, the Serial Killer

Every four weeks, I will be writing about a book that I think could make a great movie.

My Sister, the Serial Killer: A Novel by Oyinkan Braithwaite is the kind of book that I wish I'd written (and I say that as the highest of compliments). As a teaser of a summary, My Sister, the Serial Killer focuses on older sister Korede and her younger sister, Ayoola. While Korede always has Ayoola's back, she is nonetheless envious. Ayoola seems to get everything so easily. That is, except lasting love. To be fair though, that is at least sometimes because Ayoola has developed a troublesome habit of killing her boyfriends. Still, Korede is by her side, shovel in hand. But will that loyalty waiver when Ayoola becomes the object of desire for the man Korede herself loves?

This would be one of the easier tales (out of those I've suggested) to film. While it keeps you on the edge of your seat, it is set in present day and in our regular world. It will require remarkable actresses both for Korede and Ayoola (and the chemistry between the two will be vital). However, with how wildly popular this book was, I think it is perfect to adapt.
